Stellaluna is a story of a tiny fruit bat who is separated from her mother. She is adopted by a small family of birds, who overcome their initial confusion at the little bat's unusual habits and accept her as a member of the family-with some compromises. The young Stellaluna and her new friends all learn some important lessons.
